Sparkling story of murder - Dawn Bond (Newark Advertiser) |
THE second in a trilogy of books set around the Mendip Hills has been published through Author-House.
Queen Of Diamonds by Karen Wright of Arnold follows on from Silver Linings, released last year part of the Winterne Series.
Again it centres on teenager Sam Johnson whose Easter holidays are anything but relaxing. He is supposed to be studying for his end of year exams but an incident happens at Manor Stables. This creates a chain reaction of events which lead to murder and mayhem.
Together, Sam and his friend Jonah have to uncover the secrets of Winterne Manor to stop a criminal scheme to find hidden diamonds all edge of the seat stuff. Sam has to recruit the help of Charlie and his strange friends, including the local witch to prevent further mishaps for the Atkins family. Yet again this is a cleverly written fantasy yarn which rattles at a fast pace. It includes wonderfully penned dialect, great descriptions of larger-than-life characters and is a good read from start to finish.
Karen gets better with every book she writes and could easily give
J. K. Rowling a good run for her money.
The final book in the trilogy, Fool’s Gold, will be published next autumn and I simply can’t wait |
